The idea of Revanche is the same as it is for soccer: group up with other players and beat the other team. This largely involves kicking the ball, scoring a few goals, and choosing your winning pose at the end of the match. It’s not quite that simple, though. A match in Revanche involves more than casually kicking a ball around with your friends on the weekend. It requires you to learn how to angle your balls, take advantage of the walls around the field, and master your own character.

Familiarize yourself with your character

While the ball is the most important object in a soccer match, you shouldn’t forget that your body is your strongest tool. In Revenge, developer Sloclap has brought all the physicality of Sifu to its soccer video game, meaning your character’s body responds in a very real (and sometimes awkward) way.
If you’re just starting out playing Revenge, familiarize yourself with how your character moves, how long it takes for them to run or stop running, how high they can jump to intercept the ball, and so on. In our experience, it’s always a good idea to play a bit in Freeplay mode or perform a quick combo just to warm up and make your character’s digital body move more naturally during a match.
Find the right match to improve your skills
If you’re new to Revenge , you’ll want to take it slow. Each match can be broken down into two levels, macro and micro. While the latter is all about individual skills, the former encompasses all the agents, from players to rules, involved in a game. The fast-paced match formats give you room to progressively improve.
You can queue up for 3 vs. 3, 4 vs. 4, and 5 vs. 5 quick matches. The first option is more intense, but forces you to hone your individual skills. In 4 vs. 4, adding an additional player to each team gives you more breathing room and thinking about positioning. Finally, when there are five players on each team, you have the perfect setting to learn more about the macro aspect of the game – and how to be more tactical.
Let your teammates know what’s on your mind

There is an inherent challenge that every player must face when waiting in multiplayer matches: communication. To work as a team, you need to let other players know what is on your mind and you need to know their plans as well. Rematch offers voice chat, providing a direct channel to talk to your team.

The game is designed to rotate players throughout a match, giving each person the chance to either be right in front of the other team’s goal or defend their team from the opposing team’s attack. This may not seem like the best scenario, but it’s actually extremely useful, because anyone can step in as the goalkeeper when needed and save the day.
In Revanche the goalkeeper is the only one capable of holding the ball with his hands, protecting the goal and becoming invulnerable to sliding tackles. Since there are situations where the player who was the starting goalkeeper leaves his position to help the defense or force an attack, having the chance to replace the goalkeeper is essential to restructure the defense if everything goes wrong and the other team wins the ball back.
When using a controller, speed up the camera
Following the ball around Rematch Matches and keeping up with the opposing team is a slow endeavor if you’re using a controller. You can make your life easier by increasing the camera speed for the controller.
To adjust this particular setting, go to the system menu and choose Options. Under the Gameplay tab, you’ll find the option to adjust the camera speed. Increasing it will allow you to pan to where you’re looking at faster. For players who are playing Revenge on consoles or prefer to use controllers, changing the speed will definitely increase your chances of winning.

Running from one side of the field to the other is a staple of soccer, so you’ll be running constantly during a match as you try to shoot the ball or catch up to your opponent. But because running depletes your stamina, you have to choose carefully when to use it. That’s why you should prioritize using extra effort at all times.
In Revenge , Extra Effort is a charge that you can use by pressing the sprint button twice. You get a speed boost for a few seconds when you use the charge. Despite its short duration, Extra Effort is a strong mechanic – it doesn’t cost any stamina, and the charge replenishes fairly quickly. You want to put in extra effort to quickly reposition or gain the lead when sprinting after the ball.
