“Fique esperando”: Bumrah desliga os pessimistas, diz “vai tocar enquanto Deus escrever”

India cricket team pacer Jasprit Bumrah came down hard at critics who questioned his future in cricket over his fitness. The star pacer, who was India’s most overworked bowler in the previous calendar year, picked up a back injury during the 5th Test against Australia. The injury forced Bumrah to be on the sidelines for nearly four months before he finally returned to action in IPL 2025.

“People have only said no to me”

Speaking at a press conference after Day 3 of ENG vs IND 1st Test, Bumrah said that he had always been told by people that he couldn’t play cricket for long. The pacer reiterated that he intends to play cricket for India as long as he can and that he had that belief. Bumrah pointed out that he had been playing international cricket for over 10 years now and that he was a part of IPL for even longer.

“I’ve always wanted to play cricket for India. I’ve played cricket on my belief. I’ve come to every format on my belief. Because people have only said no to me. First they said, you won’t be able to play. Then they said you’ll play for only six more months… eight more months. I’ve been playing international cricket for 10 years. I’ve been playing IPL for 12-13 years. People still say, you’ll go now. I say, ‘keep waiting’,” Bumrah said.

Further, Bumrah categorically stated that he wasn’t going to overthink on his future. He vowed to take Indian cricket forward as long as he was a part of the setup and his body permits him to play.

“I’m not going to think about it. They say, you’ll go. I say, let’s see. I’ll play as long as God has written. I’ll do my best preparation. And then I’ll leave it. I’ll try to take the work that God has given me forward. And I’ll try to take Indian cricket forward,” Bumrah added.
