Prithvi Shaw fará parceria com a dupla do CSK Ruturaj Gaikwad e Rahul Tripathi em Maharashtra, tendo mudado de alianças de Mumbai

Former India U19 captain Prithvi Shaw has taken the first step towards rejuvenating his career. Shaw has officially moved to Maharashtra having sought an NOC from Mumbai to switch teams. The 26-year-old will now team up with Ruturaj Gaikwad for the upcoming domestic season.

“At this stage of my career, I believe joining the Maharashtra team will help me grow further as a cricket,” Prithvi Shaw said in a statement.

Happy to play with Ruturaj Gaikwad: Prithvi Shaw completes Maharashtra switch

Prithvi Shaw’s career has been on a constant downward slope over the past few years. Things came to a head after he was suspended by Mumbai Cricket Association for disciplinary and fitness issues. Dropped and out of favour, he also went unsold in the IPL 2025 Auction. Shaw last played for Mumbai in December 2024 in the SMAT Final.

At Maharashtra, Shaw will likely open the batting with Ruturaj Gaikwad. Gaikwad is the captain of the side when available and also leads the Chennai Super Kings in the IPL. Rahul Tripathi, another CSK star, is also in the mix.

“I’m happy to get the opportunity to play alongside talented players like Ruturaj Gaikwad, Ankit Bawne, Rahul Tripathi, Rajneesh Gurbani, and Mukesh Choudhary in the Maharashtra team,” Shaw added.

Should return close to his best, it will be a significant coup for Maharashtra. The 26-year-old has 4556 runs in 58 first-class appearances at 46.02. He scored a century on Test debut as an 18-year-old and has a T20 strike rate of 151.54 after 117 games.

“We are delighted to welcome a player of Prithvi Shaw’s calibre to the Maharashtra team. Shaw’s international and IPL experience will be invaluable, especially for mentoring younger players in the squad. Maharashtra Cricket Association stands firmly behind Prithvi in his new journey, and we wish him the very best for the seasons ahead,” MCA President Rohit Pawar said in a statement.
