Jay Som returned with the announcement of Belonging, her first new album in six years, and a 2025 US tour. As a preview, she also shared a pair of songs from the album: “Float” featuring Jimmy Eater and Jim Adkins, and “A Million Reasons Why.” Stream both tracks below.

Dropping October 10th via Polyvinyl Record Co., Belonging is the follow-up to Melina Duterte’s excellent 2019 album, Anak Ko . Duterte wrote, composed, performed, produced, engineered, and mixed the record, which marks her first project to feature guest vocalists. In addition to Adkins, Paramore’s Hayley Williams and Mini Trees’ Lexi Vega lent their vocals to the new album.

Duterte also collaborated with key collaborators João Gonzalez (of Glas Soft) and Mal Hauser (known for working with Mk.gee and Illuminati Hotties) on Belonging . “When you try something for the first time, there will always be some kind of fear, but I had to accept the fact that I had to let go of some control,” she said in a statement. “This record is still essentially me, but a lot of the choices were made by friends who helped me because I trusted them.”

Indeed, “Float” feels like an organic collaboration, blending Jay Som’s pop sensibilities with Adkins’ signature sound. The music video, directed by Nina Ljeti, even “unintentionally, but very serendipitously,” references Jimmy Eat’s “The Middle” visual world. Watch below.

After supporting Lucy Dacus on tour (Get tickets here ), Duterte will kick off a headline run in Europe and the UK this summer, followed by a string of US dates starting November 23 in Los Angeles. Subsequent stops include Austin, New York, Chicago, and Washington, D.C. See his full schedule below.

Tickets for the US leg of Jay Som’s tour go on sale to the general public on Friday, July 11 at 10:00 a.m. local time via Ticketmaster and her official website .

Pre-orders for Belong are currently underway. Since its release, Anak Ko Duterte has been busy forming the band’s single with Palehound’s Ellen Kempner, collaborating with Troye Sivan , and contributing to the soundtrack for Jane Schoenbrun’s film I Saw the Shine on TV . She also worked as a producer and engineer on Boygenius’s record and Dacus’s latest album, Forever Is a Feeling .
