If there’s one thing Tina Knowles will do, it’s shade her babies!
Nicki Minaj has been showing off her beef with Jay-Z, Megan Thee Stallion, and Roc Nation for several days now. After mocking Meg for a lawsuit filed against her by a former videographer, the rapper turned her attention to Jay-Z, claiming he owes hundreds of millions of dollars for his involvement in Tidal.
When Jay launched the music streaming platform, 15 artists, including Nicki, received 3% equity, worth $56 million at the time, according to Complex. In 2021, Tidal was sold to Square for $302 million, with Minaj and the other celebrity owners retaining their stake after the sale.
Now, Minaj is claiming she received $1 million for her share of the company, not the approximately $9 million she would have been owed if the company had been valued at the square sale price. Therefore, she is publicly attacking Jay-Z for allegedly owing her $200 million, including interest.
She also posted seemingly fake news about a long-standing paternity case involving Hov moving forward, highlighting a man who has claimed to be Jay’s son for years.
While we all know Jay-Z won’t respond, at least publicly, one person we can always count on to step in quickly is Ms. Tina!
While one of her babies wasn’t directly mentioned, Nicki’s targeting of her longtime son-in-law, her company, and pressing allegations that he has an illegitimate child were enough for her to post a subtle response.
The author and fashion designer reposted a video from a Beyoncé and Jay-Z fan page, which shows Bey praising her mother for the strength she has given her throughout her career.
“It’s so easy for you to lose yourself and be so unhappy,” Beyoncé says of her life in the industry. “I’m always able to come back to myself because of you and because of the deep woman that you are.”
The caption, which was also reposted by Knowles, reads: “Good morning ☀️🐝 It’s nice to wake up knowing my faves haven’t lost their minds – you guys have a great day, remember to ignore the ignorance, as @MstinakNowles would say 🫶🏾”
If Bey preaching in the video that this industry can make people lose themselves wasn’t direct enough, the caption certainly seems to prove that Tina (and possibly the entire Carter clan) thinks Nicki Minaj may have lost it.
This clapback comes just months after Tina called out Kanye’s “ignorance” for attacking Beyoncé and Jay-Z’s twins in one of her online rants, proving she’s not afraid to respond to negativity.
“It’s hard to stay positive and graceful in the face of ignorance and evil. But I know that no weapon formed against me or my family will prosper,” the 71-year-old wrote in her Instagram caption in March. “This battle is not mine, but the Lord’s, I know God has got this.”
Knowles spoke out about responding to criticism on her baby’s behalf earlier this year, referencing the “horrendous” rumors that Beyoncé faked her pregnancy with Ivy Blue.
“My family is so precious to me, and babies are so sacred. So hearing people say the most horrendous things and call my whole family a liar because we would all have to be part of this conspiracy and lie about something so sacred,” she told People. “It was the worst because I couldn’t say anything. My daughter was saying, ‘No, you’re going to add to the story.’ But it didn’t go away for long.”
She added that the hardest part of fame “is that people feel like they can tear you down any way they can and you shouldn’t get upset,” she says, “but we’re still human, and it hurts.”
