Nara Smith empurra a gravadora TradWife, insiste que ela não está ‘presa’ na cozinha

Nara Smith is recovering for what she calls “Traditional Life.”

On a July 10 episode of the On Purpose with Jay Shetty Podcast, the TikTok star discussed her struggle with her online presence due to some of the comments she receives. The term “Tradwife” is slang for “traditional wife” and has been criticized by many as a backward-looking movement, glorifying traditional, more subservient roles for wives that limit their opportunities and roles in the larger world.

“These are people who love designing things for me and how I live my life just because I cook for my husband, because it’s my love language and I love cooking,” she explained.

“They design it so that I’m in the kitchen and I’m stuck and I’m at home and he’s the breadwinner and all these things,” she continued, adding, “And I’m like, no, I work.”

Before meeting her husband Lucky Blue Smith and becoming a mother of three, the pregnant influencer began her modeling career at the age of 14. She was scouted by IMG Models in Germany and continued modeling after moving to the United States.

“I’m very busy. I travel almost every week. I have kids that I raise,” the star told Shetty.

“I love being in the kitchen because it’s a passion of mine, not because I have to,” she insisted, “and sometimes I feel like this is where social media gets tricky for me personally.”

“No matter how much I express these things and try to make people understand that I’m a full-time working mom, they just don’t want to get it,” she continued. “They use me as a poster child for this very traditional wife, and I’m not. There’s nothing truly traditional about us as a couple, other than maybe they chose to have children young and get married young. But other than that, we split 50/50.”

Smith then explained the things her husband does outside of the “traditional” husbandly duties.

“There are things Lucky does that I think traditional men wouldn’t do. Like doing the dishes or dressing the kids or doing their hair, or whatever it is that people don’t associate with a traditional man,” she continued, “and there are things I like about having a full-time career and being lucky enough to be at home.”

The social media influencer also spoke about how people can be so negative on these social media platforms, revealing how she cried to her husband about it.

“In today’s society, they love drama. They love negativity. They thrive on online arguments and opinions and situations that cause conflict,” she said. “I think that’s what people love to project onto me. They love that I’m so controversial and can say whatever. And in the beginning, it really used to bother me.”

“I used to cry at home and tell Lucky, like, ‘I don’t understand why they’re saying all these things,'” she explained.

Smith said she has since realized the best thing to do is ignore the haters and live her life the way she wants.

“So all the comments would be, ‘She’s lying, she’s gaslighting us,’” he explained, “and I’m like, I literally can’t win. And I think that’s what I’ve learned. People don’t want to hear the truth. They don’t care about the truth. They care about what they want to hear and what serves them. So the less I say, the better.”

“It saves my energy,” she concluded. “There’s no point in saying something someone doesn’t even want to hear.”
