Shape. “She’s amazing.” “Many of you may already know my passion for the Tracy Anderson method and my investment in it. She kicked my previously in-shape butt, and I will be forever grateful,” she added on Goop.
Gwyneth meditates, telling Vogue that during the pandemic she stopped doing it “sporadically” every morning. “I do transcendental meditation, so it’s something you learn from a teacher and they give you a mantra. There’s an app called Insight Timer that I use, and sometimes when I need a little meditation in the afternoon, [I use] the breathing app. You follow a ball expanding and contracting and breathe along with it. Even five minutes is really helpful,” she said.
Infrared saunas are part of Paltrow’s self-care routine. “I love taking an infrared sauna; it’s really detoxing. It’s a real gift to myself,” she told Shape. “I haven’t tried cryotherapy yet because I’m scared, but they say it’s great for pain. Our diets are so full of inflammatory foods that I think we need to do more and more extreme things to combat it.”
Gwyneth is very public about her love of cleansing. “At GOOP, they call me the ‘Guinea Pig GP’ because I’ll try anything,” she told Shape. “I just tried an eight-day goat’s milk cleanse to rid my system of parasites. That was really interesting. It’s just goat’s milk and herbs. The theory is that we all have parasites, and they love the protein in milk. So if you stop eating, they don’t feel as bad afterward, but it kills them.”
Gwyneth’s goal is to “eat pretty clean throughout the day,” consuming “good protein and lots of vegetables and not too many grains or sugar, and no baked goods,” she told Shape. As the day progresses, she relaxes her approach, eating whatever she wants for dinner, but tries to eat lean proteins like fish and chicken.
Paltrow is a fan of intermittent fasting. “This year, I’ve been working with my dear friend and functional medicine practitioner @DrWillCole and trying out the program from his new book, Intuitive Fasting. The clear yet flexible four-week plan combines intuitive eating with intermittent fasting and ketogenic foods. It’s designed to optimize our well-being and set us up to feel our best for every week to come,” she wrote in a recent post.
