August 2 was good for Team India. Although Shubman Gill didn’t get to break an all-time record, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Akash Deep, Ravindra Jadeja, and Washington Sundar shined. Karun Nair was perhaps the only disappointment. Elsewhere, Jasprit Bumrah could miss the Asia Cup 2025 because of workload management. And something might be cooking between Delhi Capitals (DC) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) as the Indian Premier League (IPL) trade window remains open before the 2026 auction.

Bumrah to miss Asia Cup?
Managing Jasprit Bumrah’s workload won’t be easy for the BCCI. The Indian board was forced to rest Bumrah for two Test matches against England to ensure he doesn’t get injured again. The BCCI thinks that if Bumrah plays the Asia Cup 2025, he won’t be able to play the West Indies Tests.

Gill misses Gavaskar’s record
21 runs—that’s all Shubman Gill needed to break Sunil Gavaskar’s record for most runs in a Test series by an Indian batter. But it just wasn’t to be. After starting superbly, Gill fell to a good delivery from Gus Atkinson, missing the major milestone. But it’ll still be one of the greatest batting displays by an Indian in Test cricket.

Natarajan from DC to CSK?
T. Natarajan could be playing for a new franchise in IPL 2026. The left-arm pacer has been spotted training at the Super Kings Academy in Chennai. One understands that Natarajan hails from Tamil Nadu, but most players don’t train at academies of other IPL teams. This could well mean that Natarajan is joining CSK.

Karun Nair disspaoints
Have we seen the last of Karun Nair in Test cricket for India? The veteran batter failed to show up again when the situation was perfectly set up for him to perform. The platform was set. He got a star but it didn’t pan out well for him. It’s been the same story for Nair throughout the series and this failure could be the last one.

Washington Sundar thrashes England
India was 357/9. But considering the trail, it was 334. The score was good, but not great. From there, Washington Sundar went ballistic, and India ended up with 396 runs. The all-rounder was 17 (23) when the 9th wicket fell and scored 36 runs in the next 17 balls. This included 4 sixes and 2 fours. England was set a 374-run target, all thanks to Washington’s superb hitting.

Record breaker Jadeja
Ravindra Jadeja has ended the India vs England Test series, with the bat, on a perfect note. The all-rounder recorded his 6th score of fifty or above in the series, becoming the first man batting at number six or lower to do so in England in a Test series. His run tally went to 516, as Jadeja became the first Indian to score 500+ runs in a Test series.
