Bumrah havia deixado o esquadrão indiano antes do quinto teste começar no Oval.
We now know why Jasprit Bumrah left the squad before the final Test of the India vs England series. Bumrah looked off-colour at Old Trafford. His speed and accuracy had both dipped. The ace pacer still bowled 33 overs but lacked venom.
Jasprit Bumrah injured
It turns out, Bumrah was 100% when it comes to fitness. Throughout the 4th Test, he was having issues with the landing area. Even Mohammed Siraj had similar issues and hurt his ankle a bit.
We don’t know whether that played a part, but Bumrah has a knee injury. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) aren’t too bothered by it. As things stand, Bumrah doesn’t need to undergo any surgery to get back to his physical best. The medical team is keeping an eye on his progress and recovery.
“Unfortunately, Bumrah is suffering from a knee injury. The good thing is that it’s not a major one and won’t require surgery. The BCCI medical team is currently awaiting his scan reports,” a BCCI official told the Times of India.
Return at the Asia Cup?
Bumrah will begin his rehabilitation at the Centre of Excellence (CoE) soon. However, his potential return is uncertain. It was reported recently that the BCCI are torn about Bumrah’s participation in the Asia Cup 2025.
It doesn’t look like he’s seriously injured and could very well be ready by September 9, when the multi-nation tournament kicks off in the UAE. However, the turnout between the Asia Cup and the West Indies Test series is just 3 days. If Bumrah plays in the UAE, will he be able to play Test cricket so soon?
The BCCI and Bumrah himself are very keen on him playing red-ball cricket. In this case, it could become Asia Cup vs West Indies. He might just feature in one of them. Which one? We’ll have to wait and watch.
