An AI chef has taken over a five-star restaurant in Dubai ahead of its launch later this year. However, it won’t be the one cooking.
AI—artificial intelligence—has been used in a variety of fields over the years. It’s been used in car manufacturing for some time, working with robots to replace humans when it comes to installing doors and even welding other parts.
It’s also started to make its way into kitchens. There are robo-kitchens out there, where all the food is prepared by a bot without much human input.
Now, a five-star restaurant in Dubai is taking things a step further, using AI to curate its menu. But don’t worry, it won’t be the one cooking your meal.
Chef Aiman set to run Dubai’s Woohoo restaurant
That’s right, Woohoo, a restaurant opening in Dubai in September, will start using AI to suggest its menu, figure out the service, and decide on the vibe. This would basically make Richie completely useless in the bear.
According to Ahmet Oytun Cakir, one of Woohoo’s founders, the aptly named Aiman is “trained in decades of food science research, molecular composition data, and over a thousand recipes from cooking traditions around the world.”
According to Reuters, Woohoo will be based in the shadow of the Burj Khalifa, so you’ll likely end up seeing some wild technological advancements while waiting for your technologically advanced meal.
Oh, and he has his own Instagram, Tiktok and YouTube accounts.
Since Chef Aiman won’t be doing any of the food preparation or cutting up your meal, he’ll still need humans to operate.
“Human cooking will not be replaced, but we believe (Aiman) will elevate ideas, creativity,” Oytun Cakir, one of the creators, told Reuters.
If incredibly fine dining isn’t your thing, McDonald’s has also started using AI to make things “less stressful” for customers and employees at more than 40,000 restaurants.
