Purity Ring, the Canadian duo of Corin Roddick and Megan James, announced their first album in five years. The self-titled release will arrive on September 26th via the duo’s label The Fellowship. Additionally, the duo announced a North American tour later this fall and released the single “Place of My Own.” Listen to the new song below.
Purity Ring was inspired by the video games Final Fantasy X and Nier: Automata while making their self-titled fourth album. The concept album aims to mimic a role-playing game soundtrack, with two digital avatars of the duo setting out on a “journey to build a kinder world amidst the ruins of a broken one,” according to press materials.
The new single “Place of My Own” follows the two-part single “Many Lives” and “Part II.” “This is one of those songs that came with ease and immediacy,” Purity Ring said in a press release. “We were in a foggy forest in the mountains, and the beat felt like the cloud we were in. It was succinct and ready for the kind of lyrics that imbued places we dream of, places we wished we existed, places we see every day but are just out of reach.”

They continued: “In the end, this song is a kind of spell of the way that maybe we can reach those places if we watch our steps carefully, if we take the time to build them for ourselves.”
Purity Ring will embark on a North American tour later this fall to celebrate their fourth album. The “Place of My Tour” will kick off on October 13th in Ventura, California, before hitting major stops in Denver, Chicago, Brooklyn, Philadelphia, Nashville, and more. The tour will conclude on November 12th in Los Angeles. Tickets for the duo’s tour go on sale to the general public on Thursday, July 17th at 10:00 a.m. local time via Ticketmaster and the band’s website .
Purity Ring’s latest album Uterus was released in 2020 via 4AD. In 2022, they dropped the Graves Ep .
