Burger King is adding a fan-favorite drink to the menu that McDonald’s customers have been waiting for after the golden arches launched it in just one country.
Over the years, fast-food restaurants have drawn inspiration from different menu items, both regular and limited edition. This inspiration has also led to some iconic marketing campaigns, with franchises looking to emulate each other at every turn.
With limited-edition items leaving menus more regularly, it gives other restaurants the chance to pick up where their rivals left off.
This has been the case with Burger King as they are relaunching the Cloud Candy Frozen Candy drink after McDonald’s launched their Cotton Candy Shake only in Canada.
Burger King Brings Back Cotton Candy Drink
McDonald’s Shake initially excited fans who were eager to try it. However, when it was released only in Canada, customers in the US were disappointed.
“I can’t even get excited when you post,” one fan posted on Snackolator’s Instagram post. “Oh CMON I thought this was a US addition. Where is the Canadian flag to indicate it’s exclusive to Canada?????” another added.
However, many were pleased with Burger King’s version, which is returning on July 14. “It’s so good!” one fan commented. “They need to make these permanent, they’re the best Burger King has ever had,” added another.
McDonald’s left the door open for cotton candy to appear on U.S. menus, as they didn’t confirm whether it would be a Canadian exclusive. However, it did come with a “participating restaurants only” clause.
It wouldn’t be the first or last unbranched menu item that caught the attention of fans on social media.
