When the Jonas Brothers broke up, Kevin Jonas was apparently not only heartbroken, he was almost broke.
The trio appeared on Monday’s episode of Lewis Howes’ “The School of Greatness” podcast , where they opened up about everything from fame to finances. When Howes asked Kevin what the “biggest lessons” he’s learned from “money, success, and fame” were, the eldest Jonas gave an unexpectedly candid answer.
“ I’ve seen it both ways. I’ve seen the beginning of financial success, not knowing what it really was and understanding it, not having [it] to lose almost all of it,” Kevin revealed.
The revelation left Howes visibly surprised, prompting Kevin to explain how, at one point, his fortune had dwindled to just 10% of what it once was—a near financial collapse that occurred “about nine years ago.”
“I invested in a lot of properties and doing other things, and I was building at the time. Unfortunately, it wasn’t the right partnership, if you know what I’m saying – it can’t really interest me too much.”
Kevin, now 36, said he “learned a lot of lessons” from the ordeal and ultimately feels grateful for a “second shot” after reuniting with his brothers in 2019. He called the experience “fortuitous,” though he admitted the financial lessons learned weren’t exactly the ones he always wanted to face.
He went on to say that the experience taught him to reevaluate his approach to life.
