Larry David is returning to HBO for a new comedy series themed around American history. The legendary comedian is joining forces with former President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama, who serve as co-executive producers on the project, as well as Curb Your Enthusiasm’s Jeff Schaffer, who will write the series alongside David and serve as its director.
And while it won’t be a new season of Curb Your Enthusiasm , a press release promises a “mix of some notable Curb actors and guest stars,” who will appear on screen alongside David throughout the six-episode run.
According to a logline for the HBO show, “President and Mrs. Obama wanted to honor America’s 250th birthday and celebrate our nation’s unique history on this special occasion… but then Larry David called.” Schaffer further previewed the series, saying, “The characters Larry is playing haven’t changed history. In fact, they’ve been largely ignored by history. And that’s a good thing.”

“I’ve sat across the table from some of the world’s toughest leaders and wrestled with some of our most intractable problems,” President Obama said in a statement. “Nothing prepared me for working with Larry David.”
“Once Curbside ended, I celebrated with a three-day foam party. After a violent allergic reaction to the foam, I longed to return to my simple life as a beekeeper, harvesting organic honey from the wildflowers in my meadow. Sadly, one day my bees mysteriously disappeared. And so, it is with a heavy heart that I return to television, hoping to alleviate the loss of my beloved hive,” David added in his own statement.
David wrapped Curb Your Enthusiasm’s 12th and supposed final season in 2024.
