Christian Horner has released a statement following news of his departure from the Oracle Red Bull Racing Formula 1 team.

The 51-year-old announced the team to the world of F1 in 2005, and has led RBR for the past 20 years, serving as the team’s director and CEO.

On Wednesday (July 9), just three days after the British Grand Prix, it was announced that he is no longer leading operations at Red Bull Racing with immediate effect. Sister team Racing Bulls’ Team Principal Laurent Mekies has been appointed to the parent team, with Racing Bulls Racing Director Alan Perman being promoted to team principal.

Several hours after the news broke, Christian broke his silence with a lengthy statement shared to his Instagram page.

“After an incredible twenty-year journey together, it is with a heavy heart that today I say goodbye to the team I absolutely loved. Each and every one of you, the incredible people at the factory, were the heart and soul of everything we achieved and lost and lost that I am what I am that I was, that I am what I am, that I am that I am, that I am that I am that I was. all,” Christian wrote.

“Thanks to the incredible partners and fans who have allowed us to race. Their support has helped grow the team from its humble beginnings to an F1 powerhouse that has claimed 6 Constructors’ Championships and 8 Drivers’ Championships.

“Equally, thank you to our rivals, with whom there would be no race. You pushed us, challenged us, and allowed us to achieve accolades we never dreamed possible. Competition made every victory sweeter and every setback an opportunity to develop and grow,” he continued.

“Formula 1 is a sport built on relentless ambition, passion, and respect. The rivalries were fierce, but the mutual desire to innovate and raise the bar is what made this journey so special.

It’s been an honor to be part of this incredible era of motorsport. I leave with immense pride in what we’ve achieved and what’s in the works for 2026—and enormous respect for everyone who made F1 the pinnacle it is today. Thank you.”

Christian also signed the note with his achievements with the team over the years – six constructors’ championship titles, eight drivers’ titles, 124 victories, 12 sprint wins, 287 podiums, 107 pole positions and 100 fastest laps.
