What happened to Jamal White?

On Friday, July 11, at approximately 7:00 PM, Jamal White was riding his bicycle near his home in the 6200 block of W. Hustis Street, per Yahoo News . That’s when a masked man approached him and forced him into a white Jeep Renegade SUV. The suspect is described as a Black male wearing a black hoodie and face mask. Witnesses also say the individual was allegedly tied to a pistol.

The Jeep quickly drove off with Jamal presumably inside, his license plate nowhere to be seen, and he has been missing ever since. At the time of the incident, the white man was seen wearing a white T-shirt and black shorts. He had been outside, riding his bike down the neighborhood street moments before the kidnapping, and it remains unclear whether the suspect shares any ties to Jamal or his family.

Ring camera footage shows the moment Jamal was kidnapped

A neighbor’s Ring camera captured the chilling moments before Jamal White was kidnapped, with the clip already going viral on social media. The footage shows the renegade white Jeep creeping up on Jamal as he pedals. At first, the Jeep is heading in the opposite direction of Jamal. But then it makes a quick U-turn and begins driving. Seconds later, screams are heard, believed to be Jamal’s. The suspect allegedly grabs him (off-camera) and speeds off. Since then, the community has rallied, trying to understand the situation and hoping someone will come forward with information.

Jamal’s grandmother releases a statement following his disappearance

Jamal’s family is completely divided, with a woman claiming to be his grandmother sharing a heartbreaking message on Facebook following the incident. She wrote:

“We are exhausted and have not slept. We are still praying and asking the community to join us in prayer and stay alert. Please keep an eye out for this renegade in the white Jeep. Every set of eyes helps.”

Other neighbors in the area are also said to be analyzing their security footage for potential clues about where the suspect was headed. The Wisconsin Department of Justice is fully involved, with the Amber Alert still active statewide as of Saturday, July 12th. In a Facebook post, the MPD is asking anyone with information about the case to contact the Police Department immediately.
