However, few celebrities were happy with the outcome. Here’s a look at which Hollywood stars considered leaving the country – and which ones actually did.

Eva Longoria

Of all the celebrities who said they would do it, Eva Longoria actually left the US, splitting her time between Spain and Mexico. She lives in the US part-time. During an interview published on November 13, 2024 with Marie Claire, Eva noted that she made the decision before the 2024 election. However, the results solidified her choice, and she described America as a “dystopian country.”

“I’ve had my whole adult life here. But even before [the pandemic] it was changing,” she told the outlet, adding: “The vibe was different. And then Covid happened, and it pushed it over the edge.”

Eva pointed out that she didn’t mean to criticize California, but cited the housing shortage and high taxes, adding that the real reason she left was because “this chapter in [her] life is done now.”

“I’m privileged,” Eva acknowledged. “I got to escape and go somewhere. Most Americans aren’t so lucky. They’re going to be stuck in this dystopian country, and my anxiety and sadness are for them.”

Jimmy Kimmel

During an opening sketch of his late-night show, Jimmy Kimmel joked that he was “leaving the country” because he “can’t stand for four more years of this” after the 2024 election results came in.

“Who knows what he’ll do?” Jimmy asked as he pointed to Donald’s “Enemies List.”

Guillermo Rodriguez

During Jimmy’s late-night sketch, Guillermo Rodriguez joked that he was “going back to Mexico.”

Miley Cyrus

While her move to the UK is primarily for family and educational opportunities, she has also continued her advocacy work, saying she plans to maintain a presence in the US for her work and activism, particularly on Latino issues.

Courtney Love

In early 2025, Courtney Love officially settled in the UK, seeking British citizenship. She described Trump’s presidency as “scary” and compared the tone of his administration to “the emperor.

“I’m so happy to be here,” she said March 4 at an event at the Royal Geographic Society in London. “It’s so great to live here. I’m finally getting my British citizenship in six months. I’m a citizen. I’m applying, man! I can’t get rid of myself!”

Sophie Turner

Although originally from England, Sophie Turner returned to Europe in 2024, with relocation plans accelerated by political instability following Trump’s victory.
