The Republican Party’s victory in the 2024 presidential election has left countless celebrities unhappy with the outcome. Donald Trump and JD Vance accepted their victory in the early hours of November 6, 2024, delivering a speech in Florida to address the nation. The then-president-elect declared “ I want to thank you. I will not let you down. America’s future will be bigger, better, bolder, richer, safer, and stronger than ever before. God bless you, and God bless America. Thank you very much. Thank you very much.”
However, few celebrities were happy with the outcome. Here’s a look at which Hollywood stars considered leaving the country – and which ones actually did.
Eva Longoria
Of all the celebrities who said they would do it, Eva Longoria actually left the US, splitting her time between Spain and Mexico. She lives in the US part-time. During an interview published on November 13, 2024 with Marie Claire, Eva noted that she made the decision before the 2024 election. However, the results solidified her choice, and she described America as a “dystopian country.”
“I’ve had my whole adult life here. But even before [the pandemic] it was changing,” she told the outlet, adding: “The vibe was different. And then Covid happened, and it pushed it over the edge.”
Eva pointed out that she didn’t mean to criticize California, but cited the housing shortage and high taxes, adding that the real reason she left was because “this chapter in [her] life is done now.”
“I’m privileged,” Eva acknowledged. “I got to escape and go somewhere. Most Americans aren’t so lucky. They’re going to be stuck in this dystopian country, and my anxiety and sadness are for them.”

During an opening sketch of his late-night show, Jimmy Kimmel joked that he was “leaving the country” because he “can’t stand for four more years of this” after the 2024 election results came in.
