A “running joke/paper machete” performance by Stone Age Queens’ new concert film Alive in the Catacombs aired Thursday night (July 10) on Jimmy Kimmel Live!
The clip, introduced by guest host Anthony Anderson, offered the first look at a full song from the historic and intimate setting for those who hadn’t already purchased the film via the band’s website .

The stripped-down performance also featured a preview of what to expect on QOTSA’s recently announced Fall Us Outing “The Catacombs Tour” ( Get tickets here ), which will find frontman Josh Homme and company recapturing the vibe of the historic set during a theater run beginning October 2 in Chicago. It was just announced that Paris Jackson will provide support on the tour.

Qotsa filmed the performance last year in the Paris catacombs, with a press release describing it as “an unprecedented incarnation of Qotsa at his most intimate, yet surrounded by literally millions of human remains.” Last month, it was released through the band’s website as a paid download, and a mage documentary. The audio version is also available digitally and will arrive on vinyl on August 22.
The Catacombs performance marked Qotsa’s last show for nearly a year, as the band was forced to postpone a string of 2024 dates due to Homme requiring “essential medical care” for an undisclosed health issue. They returned to the stage on June 10th in Boston to kick off a string of makeup dates. And a few nights later, Consequence caught Qotsa in Atlantic City, New Jersey (see our review and photo gallery ).
