Why this weigh-in is a big deal
This isn’t your average pre-fight look. It’s the tombstone for a full week of fight-centric content from top promotions and Netflix. The Taylor vs. Serrano trilogy marks the first all-women’s boxing card in Madison Square Garden history.
Two of the sport’s most iconic fighters will headline a card stacked with elite female talent, showing the world that women’s boxing is here to stay.
And before fists fly, the weigh-in sets the tone. Expect tension, fire, and energy. These two legends know what’s at stake. Ireland’s undisputed super lightweight queen Katie Taylor (24-1, 6 KOs) will face Puerto Rican power-punch Amanda Serrano (47-3-1, 31 KOs), who has already conquered seven divisions and isn’t shy about wanting to walk away with a victory this time around.
What to expect at the weigh-in event
Sparks flew at the final press conference, and the weigh-in will be the last chance for mind games and face-offs before the night. Live coverage, hosted by a star-studded crew including Kate Scott , Laila Ali , Sean Grande , and Seniesa Estrada, the weigh-in broadcast will give fans up-close access to all the pre-fight drama.
The event will feature a multilingual experience. Netflix will broadcast the weigh-in in English, Spanish (Spain and Latin America), Brazilian Portuguese, and French, making this a truly global event.
A quick recap of the Taylor vs. Serrano rivalry
Their first fight in April 2022 lit up Madison Square Garden and went down as an instant classic. Katie Taylor earned a split decision victory, defending her lightweight titles in front of a sold-out crowd.
The second fight was Bloody, when Taylor split Serrano’s eyebrow. Despite the injury, Amanda continued fighting, but unfortunately, Taylor took home the title with a unanimous victory.
Taylor calls this historic card “the biggest achievement” of her life. Serrano is all business. Changing her approach this time, she said, “I’m going to use my head—but not the way it was used on me. We’re going to be smarter. I worked a lot smarter for this fight.”
She also didn’t shut down the possibility of a fourth fight, saying, “No, I don’t think so. I’m kind of tired of Katie Taylor.”
