Angelo Mathews jogou 222 T20s, marcando 3858 corridas e tem 102 postigos.
Sri Lankan cricket bid adieu to one of their finest in Angelo Mathews. The legendary all-rounder played his last Test game recently in Galle, where Bangladesh and Sri Lanka played out a high-scoring draw. However, he isn’t done yet. Just days after calling time on his 15-year red-ball career, Mathews revealed he still has one dream left — to sign off by winning another ICC T20 World Cup.

Mathews’ dream to lift T20 World Cup
“I’ve still got six more months to go. I’ll give it my best shot for the (2026) T20 World Cup. I would love to sign off with a World Cup win. I’ll just see how my body goes.” Mathews said after the drawn Test against Bangladesh, fittingly held at the same Galle venue where he made his debut in 2009.
Though his days in whites are over, Mathews has not hung up his boots yet. With the 2026 T20 World Cup to be co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka, the experienced campaigner has his eyes set on a swansong in front of home fans. A member of Sri Lanka’s 2014 World T20-winning side, Mathews could bring experience to the young Lankan squad in what may be his final cricketing act.
