Rishabh Pant levantou seu século VIII no críquete de teste e também se tornou o primeiro goleiro indiano a atingir dois séculos em um teste.
India keeper Rishabh Pant has been in some sublime form ever since the India vs England series started a few days ago. In the first innings, he scored 134, that propelled the team score to 471, and then now, in the second innings in Leeds, he smashed a ton on Monday. This is his fourth century in England, and has also become the first keeper from the country to smash two tons in the same Test.
Rishabh Pant Becomes 1st Indian to Achieve Major Landmark
That is not it. He is just the second designated keeper-batter, to score two tons in the same match, after Andy Flower vs South Africa in 2001. He had scored 142 and 199*. There is another record that Rishabh Pant bettered on the day, as he brought up his fourth ton in the country and eighth overall.
He equaled Sachin Tendulkar and Dilip Vengsarkar’s record of four 100s in England. While the duo achieved the feat by the time they ended their careers, Pant has achieved it in just his 44th Test. Currently, at the time of his century, in 77 innings he has scored 3172 runs at an average of 44.
Best Keeper-batter for India Ever?
And this is for the first time since 2019, that an Indian Player scored centuries in both the innings of a test match. Rohit Sharma was the last to do so when he scored 176 & 127 vs South Africa at Vizag.
Earlier, he had brought up a big wicket-keeping record as well in the match. He became only the third Indian keeper to pouch 150 catches, after MS Dhoni and Syed Kirmani. What is even more staggering is, he possesses a better dismissal ratio of 1.9, than both the great men.
