Sanjay Manjrekar não picou palavras para expressar sua decepção com o desempenho de Ravindra Jadeja no Eng vs Ind 1st Check

Former Indian cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar claimed that he was disappointed with Ravindra Jadeja’s performance in ENG vs IND 1st Test and urged him to step up. The southpaw, who is India’s most experienced Test player among the current lot, finished with figures of 1/172 in the game. Manjrekar, who is known to be a voacal critic of Jadeja in the past with his controversial “bits and pieces” remark”, did not mince any words in conveying his disappointment over the all-rounder’s performance with the ball in Leeds.

Manjrekar “expects more” from Jadeja

Speaking on JioHotstar, Manjrekar said that he was going to be critical of Jadeja while it was unwise to blame younger players like Prasidh Krishna for not delivering effectively with the ball. He said that the southpaw had a couple of chances to exploit on the final day which he failed to do so despite having so much experience.

It’s not fair to be overly critical of younger players like Prasidh Krishna — there are obvious areas for improvement. But I am going to be critical of Ravindra Jadeja. This was a final-day pitch with rough patches for him to exploit. And while there were a couple of chances, we have to expect more from someone of his experience,” Manjrekar said.

Further, Manjrekar said that Jadeja had failed to deliver despite hving something from the pitch that was working in his favour. He said that he expected more from an all-rounder who had tactical awareness.

When you’re dealing with experienced bowlers and seasoned batters, you expect a higher level of tactical awareness. Somewhere, I felt Jadeja was disappointing. The seamers had no help from the surface — but Jadeja at least had something in the pitch working in his favour,” he added.

It is pertinent to point out that Jadeja was the lone spinner in India’s XI for the 1st Test.
