O projeto de estádio internacional Mysuru, há muito tempo, pode finalmente começar, com apoio estatal e mais de ₹ 100 crore, esperados pela Associação de Críquete do Estado de Karnataka.

The long-awaited Mysuru International Cricket Stadium might soon become a reality, with recent updates hinting at construction will finally begin with support from the Karnataka state government. While Karnataka already have the iconic Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, which is known for hosting memorable international matches, the new stadium in Mysuru will be another international stadium.

Support from former MP Pratap Simha

According to media reports by Star of Mysore, former MP Pratap Simha has been for the project. He recently reached out to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah via a social media post, urging him to approve the stadium’s construction.

Land clearance and Investment commitment

Simha has assured that the identified land is free from legal issues and suitable for development, with the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) expected to invest over ₹100 crore. “There are no legal entanglements or ownership disputes with this parcel of land. The KSCA is expected to invest over ₹100 crore to bring the stadium to life — potentially positioning Mysuru as a key destination for international and domestic cricket,” Simha added.

Karnataka still waiting for another International Stadium

Several Indian states have more than one international cricket stadium. These include Maharashtra, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Madhya Pradesh, and Rajasthan. Each of these states has hosted many big matches in different cities. Karnataka, despite having a strong cricket culture, still has only one international stadium in Bengaluru and has been waiting for another.

Formal steps toward construction

The stadium proposal is now listed on the Cabinet’s agenda. The Mysuru Regional Commissioner has submitted a formal request for the transfer of 26.31 acres of government land, specifically from Survey Numbers 312 and 313, to the Principal Secretary of the Revenue Department. This move is positioning Mysuru one step closer to becoming a central hub for cricket.
