England find themselves in a perilous position, having been tasked with chasing down a record-breaking 374 runs. While the hosts only have 8 wickets left, rain could come in as their saviour on Day 4 and might potentially hamper India’s chances of winning the contest and levelling the series.

As per UK Met Office, there is 50-30% chance of rain after lunch on Day 4. While there is less than 5% chance of precipitation at the time of start of play, there are high chances that the game could be disrupted in the second session. The forecast states that sunny intervals are expected to prevail in the first half before changing to overcast conditions by lunch time. The maximum and minimum temperatures are 23 and 16 degrees respectively.

IND vs ENG 5th Test, Day 3

Yashasvi Jaiswal and Akash Deep resumed the innings for India on Day 3 and went on to stitch a 107-run partnership that frustrated England. Nightwatchman Akash went on to score a half-century off 70 deliveries. While India lost skipper Shubman Gill and Karun Nair cheaply, Jaiswal went on to score his 6th Test century, this time off 127 deliveries.

Ravindra Jadeja and Washington Sundar slammed half-centuries, playing handy knocks to help India reach a mammoth 396-run 2nd innings total. Ben Duckett and Zak Crawley started off the 374 run-chase on a positive note but it was India who had the last laugh. Crawley was cleaned up by a brilliant delivery from Mohammed Siraj on the last ball of the day, leaving England with just 8 wickets at hand to achieve the record run-chase.
