Mohammed Siraj is that kind of a bowler — who puts in the hard yards every match, but somehow is not rewarded with heaps of wickets.. something like Ishant Sharma. The Hyderabadi has already bowled 109 overs in the IND vs ENG series — has picked up 13 wickets, when he could easily have had more.

Lord’s was a classic example. Mohammed Siraj could have had Joe Root out way before he actually did. The latter gone on to score some valuable runs in the series, that proved detrimental, in which way the match went. In the first innings he scored 104, and then in the second he scored 40. Had his scores not been there, India would have taken a lead, and won the match easily.

Nonetheless, Siraj feels it is not the time to get frustrated, and remain patient. At the pre-match conference on Tuesday, he said, “I’ve been bowling well, just that I haven’t been that lucky. As a bowler I don’t have to be frustrated, like Root got beaten so many times in the last game. So I have to be patient.”

One of the biggest factors in the match was also Ben Stokes’ elongated 9 and 10 overs spells, that changed the tide in England’s favour. Once again, Siraj confirmed, that there was a learning there. He said, “If you can learn from someone there’s no shame. Ben Stokes bowled two spells of 10 overs each and hats off to him.”

Meanwhile, the penultimate match of the series starts from July 23, and the stakes are already high for the visitors. They are 1-2 down, and they face some selection issues. Arshdeep Singh, Nitish Kumar Reddy and Akash Deep have sustained injuries, and Anshul Kamboj is most likely to make his debut.
