Rishabh Pant tornou-se o primeiro guardião visitante a preencher 1000 testes na Inglaterra, pouco antes de sua lesão.
India’s Manchester campaign hit another roadblock as Sai Sudharsan confirmed that Rishabh Pant was taken to hospital for scans after suffering a foot injury during the fourth Test. The vice-captain, who had looked fluent during his stay at the crease, was retired hurt after being struck on the right foot by a Chris Woakes delivery.
Pant, in his usual manner, tried an audacious reverse scoop shot against the fast bowler. However, he only managed to get a slight inside edge off the bat and the ball hit straight on his right foot. Instantly, Pant hobbled. While he survived a genuine LBW scare, it cost him his stay at the crease. He couldn’t walk and was eventually carried out of the ground via stretcher.
Sudharsan: “He’s in a lot of pain”
Speaking after the close of play, debutant Sai Sudharsan revealed the seriousness of Pant’s condition. Sudharsan was at the other end when Pant’s injury occurred.
