O incidente ocorreu durante as primeiras entradas da Inglaterra, quando Rishabh Pant exigiu que a bola fosse alterada.

In a minor setback, Team India vice-captain Rishabh Pant has been reprimanded for his on-field conduct during England’s first innings on day three of the Leeds clash. The 27-year-old breached Article 2.8 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, that relates to “showing dissent at an Umpire’s decision during an International Match.”

Rishabh Pant Sanctioned by ICC

Apart from this, Rishabh Pant has attracted one demerit point, which has been added to his disciplinary record. Having said that, it was just his first offence in the last 24 months. Meanwhile, the incident occurred during England’s 61st over, when Harry Brook and Ben Stokes were batting, and Pant was seen having a discussion with umpires, regarding the condition of the ball.

Once the umpires turned down his request after checking with the ball gauge, the keeper threw the ball in front of the umpires. Pant also admitted to the offence, and accepted the offence sanctioned by match referee Richie Richardson. The level 1 breach carries a maximum penalty of a 50% of player’s match fee, and one or two demerit points.

India Close to Victory in Leeds

As far as the match is concerned, England need 350 runs to win the first Test, and have all 10 wickets intact. In the second innings, Pant batted beautifully, along with KL Rahul, with both smashing match-changing tons. In fact, Pant also became the first keeper from India to hit two centuries in a Test match.

Earlier, England in their first innings, the home side showed a lot of resolve to come close to India’s first innings total of 471. They fell just six runs short, with Ollie Pope hitting a century, and Harry Brook contributing with 99 runs.
