Dilip Doshi foi um bloomer tardio no críquete internacional, fazendo sua estréia nos testes aos 32 anos em 1979. Apesar do início tardio, ele passou a tocar 33 testes e 15 ODIs para a Índia entre 1979 e 1983.

Players from both India and England took the field on Day 5 of the first Test at Headingley wearing black armbands as a mark of respect for former India spinner Dilip Doshi, who passed away in London on Monday due to cardiac arrest. The gesture was accompanied by a moment of silence before play began, honoring the legacy of a cricketer who left a lasting impact on Indian cricket.

Players mourn Dilip Doshi’s demise

Dilip Doshi was a late bloomer in international cricket, making his Test debut at the age of 32 in 1979. Despite the late start, he went on to play 33 Tests and 15 ODIs for India between 1979 and 1983.

Known for his classical left-arm orthodox spin, Doshi claimed 114 Test wickets, including six five-wicket hauls, and 22 wickets in ODIs. His domestic record was even more impressive, with 898 first-class wickets from 238 matches

Doshi had recently been active in cricketing circles, attending the BCCI Awards and the World Test Championship final at Lord’s earlier this month. His sudden demise has left the cricketing fraternity in mourning.
