Sai Sudharsan foi bastante comum em seu primeiro teste, onde marcou 0 e 30, e parecia particularmente desconfortável contra a entrega.
India’s defeat to England in the first Test at Headingley has raised some questions over the team’s capability, overall. Despite batting so well, Shubman Gill’s men were found wanting in crunch situations, that led to their five-wicket loss, despite setting a mammoth target of 371. But that wasn’t the only concern that emerged from the defeat.
It seems, batsman Sai Sudharsan injured his shoulder on the final day of the clash. While it is widely reported that it is nothing serious, but still no one can rule out the possibility of someone else coming in Sai Su’s place. If that is the case, who could it be? The Indian management has named an elaborate squad and there can be a few options that could be tried.
Abhimanyu Easwaran Fits Bill
Though primarily an opener, Abhimanyu Easwaran can be slotted at No. 3 as well. He showed in the India A matches, with scores of 68 and 80, that he can score runs in England. He has the temperament to leave balls and wait for scoring opportunities — just the kind of game needed in England to succeed. Moreover he has better FC credentials than Sudharsan, and scored 7841 runs at an average of 48.
Dhruv Jurel Could be a Choice Too
Dhruv Jurel has been in fine nick too, at least that was the case in England Lions series. There he returned with scores of 94 & 53 in the first, and then 52 and 28 in the second. He warranted a place in the first match too, but now can be drafted in the team for the second. He can come in at No. 6 and Karun Nair could be promoted to No. 3.
Washington Sundar Could Make Things Interesting
India thoroughly missed a fifth bowler in the opening Test. So, if Sudharsan is injured, then Washington Sundar gives captain Shubman a cushion of an extra batter and a bowler. And unlike Shardul Thakur, who was used for very few overs, he can be utilised well. He could come into bat after Ravindra Jadeja.
