Inicialmente, a Lanka Premier League (LPL) deveria começar no closing de julho de 2025.
Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has confirmed that the sixth edition of the Lanka Premier League (LPL) will be held from November 27 to December 23, 2025. This year, matches will be hosted at three top international venues in Sri Lanka:
- R. Premadasa International Cricket Stadium, Colombo
- Pallekele International Cricket Stadium, Pallekele
- Rangiri Dambulla International Cricket Stadium, Dambulla
LPL to align with T20 World Cup 2026
Samantha Dodanwela, the Tournament Director, said, “The idea to conduct the LPL during this timeframe is aimed at aligning the tournament with the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026.” The Lanka Premier League gives Sri Lanka’s first-class players a strong platform to perform alongside international stars.
The LPL 2025 will span nearly a month and feature round-robin and knockout matches across Colombo, Pallekele, and Dambulla. These three stadiums have hosted previous editions and will again stage all group games and playoffs.
Since its start in 2020, the LPL has been held every year and has become a major fixture in Sri Lanka’s cricket calendar. Initially, the tournament was supposed to be played in its usual July-August window. However, reportedly due to franchise ownership issues, it was postponed. Now, the dates are in and no other T20 franchise league would be going on at that time.
The Jaffna Kings are the defending champions, having won the tournament in its 2024 edition. Led by Sri Lankan skipper Charith Asalanka, Jaffa defeated Galle Titans with Rilee Rossouw hitting a century in the final.
