Ind vs Eng: Yashasvi Jaiswal voltou a se formar depois de duas entradas fracassadas no Lord’s, e continuou marcando seu 12º teste cinquenta.
Playing against England, that too in England can be a tricky affair. Especially in overcast conditions at Manchester, where the ball is doing a bit in the air, as well off the wicket. But then, India opener Yashasvi Jaiswal showed why he’s the best in the world currently. After having failed at Lord’s twice, the southpaw got back among runs again, as he smashed his 12th fifty of the career in his 23rd match.
Yashasvi Jaiswal Scores Another 50
Despite a few misses during the course of his innings, Yashasvi Jaiswal displayed grit in overcast conditions, to get the better of Jofra Archer, Ben Stokes and Brydon Carse, throughout the morning, on day one. Meanwhile, this is also his third fifty plus score in the IND vs ENG series, after 101 at Leeds, and 87 at Edgbaston. More importantly, it was fifty after 13 & 0 at Lord’s.
England’s Nemesis, Scores 1000 Runs
What was impressive is — at Lord’s he found tough to negotiate Archer, but had a definite plan against him for the 4th clash. He left him well, and didn’t look in any hurry to smash him around the park. That worked in his favour well, which helped in reaching the milestone. That said, during the course of his innings, he became the 20th Indian batter to score 1000 runs against England in Tests.
He achieved the feat only his 7th match and averages over 71 against the country, including three tons and five fifties. He took only 16 innings to bring up his 1000 runs, the second fastest by an Indian — after Rahul Dravid — in 15 innings. The other one on the list is Mohammad Azharuddin, who too achieved the feat in 16 innings.
