Ahead of Microsoft Build, the US tech giant has launched two new laptops, the Surface Laptop (13-inch) and Surface Pro (12-inch), both designed for performance and portability.
Microsoft says the 13-inch Surface Laptop is the thinnest and lightest Surface Laptop ever, built for portability, performance, and AI. It launches on May 20 and costs $899 (roughly C$1237). It comes in Ocean, Violet, and Platinum color options.
The Surface Laptop, which features a 45-threaded NPU, is powered by the Snapdragon X Plus processor, which is faster than the Surface Laptop 5 and MacBook Air M3. The device offers a 13-inch Full HD display with slim bezels, an improved camera with HDR video capture and AI noise reduction, a keyboard designed for productivity, a built-in fingerprint reader, and more.
Next up is the Surface Pro 12-inch, which will also be available on May 20 and will start at $799 (roughly $1,099). The Surface Pro offers a 2-in-1 form factor, providing the functionality of a laptop and the portability of a tablet. It offers a built-in adjustable kickstand and detachable keyboard, as well as the svelte Surface Pen, which attaches magnetically to the back of the tablet. This tablet is also available in Slate, Ocean, and Violet.
With the Surface Laptop and Surface Pro coming with the Snapdragon X Plus processor and offering 45 top NPUs, it’s Copilot+PC certified. This includes features like recall, which can retrace your steps to safely find and return to a website or app document. The Settings menu also has new features like click-to-do and more.
