MyFitnessPal, the same app that put its best feature behind a paywall, recently introduced a new paid feature. Said to help combat the rising cost of food, the meal planner can take your budget and, with the help of machine learning, build a weekly meal plan complete with shopping list.

While it’s certainly neat, it’s part of MyFitnessPal’s $99/year membership, which is a tough subscription to swallow considering the higher cost of food these days. However, to make a brief point, a properly budgeted meal plan can help consumers save money in the long run, so we completely feel where MyFitnessPal might be coming from.

  • Members enter their goals, budget, food preferences and family size to receive a personalized weekly meal plan with a grocery list for easy shopping.
  • For those who may not have time to make it to the grocery store, the tool integrates with major e-tailers like Instacart, so you can directly order everything on your personalized list.

As stated above by MyFitnessPal, Meal Planner integrates with services like Instacart to make the process even easier. Again, it looks pretty slick.

I’m one of the people who completely stopped using this app when they took away the barcode scanner, so don’t mind me if this post comes off as a bit hostile. I’m still hurt.
